Meet Susan Bashynski, our Director of Religious Ed!
Hi all!
I’d like to take a minute to finally introduce myself and to extend my heartfelt gratitude and excitement to be here at St. Peter’s. My name is Susan Bashynski and I’m your new DRE. While I have so much to learn, I bring with me the experience of leading our young families and students in their formation through my previous work as a DRE.
I have a deep love and passion for passing on the faith with programming that encompasses not only our youth, but the entire family. I look for hands-on, service and ministry related activities that are fun and interactive. Please don’t worry. I will always consider the busy schedules that everyone keeps and will do my best to never over-burden anyone. I just truly believe that our faith begins in the home, and our youth truly do want to have their parents involved in their spiritual journey. 😊 I have a deep passionate for Vatican II, Catholic Social Teaching, and the teachings of Christ found in the gospels. We are church. Each of us has gifts and talents given us by the Holy Spirit and we are sent forth into the world to not only love and care for others, but to make a difference.
A little about me. I was professed as a Secular Franciscan in 2015. Discovering my call to the OFS has truly been a humbling experience. My patrons are Solanus Casey and Dorothy Day, and I find that I am led to live the spirituality that each of them has engraved in my heart. I have a deep love for Christ and an intimate relationship with him. He is the center of my life. 25 years ago I was blessed to have met and married my wonderful husband, Vincent. Together, we adopted and raised three special needs children who are now grown and on their own. We recently purchased a condo and moved to East Troy where we now live with our 2 fur babies, Cash and Waylon. This past May I graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary with my Master’s in Theology and I am currently working toward a ministry in the chaplaincy.
God has richly blessed my life and I thank him daily for the various calls and experiences he has placed in my life. Each of them has been an opportunity to learn and grow in my faith. I expect this call to St. Peter’s will be no different. My door is always open and you’re most welcome to stop by to chat! I love talking about Jesus, or just catching up on the happenings going on in the community. You can always reach me by email at religioused@stpeterset.org as well.
I pray for all of you and I look forward to meeting each of you soon!
