St. Peter's Catholic School
Greetings in the risen Christ!
Along with my wife and our five children, I am deeply grateful for Fr Jordan’s invitation to be the new principal of St. Peter’s School. He is a dear friend, and we hope you will be so, too. My name is Joseph MacDonald, and I was born in the Sunshine State, where my parents homeschooled us kids with a classical curriculum. When I was 14 they shipped me off to a liberal arts all-boys boarding school, and I loved every minute! After four years in construction, I returned to work at my old high school—this experience of giving back what I had received inspired me to further my studies. So, I attended Thomas More College in New Hampshire for two years until my degree was pleasantly interrupted by meeting and marrying my now-wife, Corinne, in Rome, Italy. After our marriage, we worked at Ave Maria University in Florida, where I completed my BA in Humanities while running one of the men’s dormitories. In 2016, my wife and I discerned a call to launch a study abroad program in Krakow, Poland. So, like good entrepreneurial Americans, we started a non-profit and bought one-way tickets to Poland with our two young children. We’ve spent the past seven years developing programs to form young people spiritually, intellectually, and in their humanity, including summer camps for over 100 Ukrainian refugee children. Consequently, I have learned a lot along the way regarding leadership and education, albeit usually from my mistakes! I’m finishing an MBA from the Krakow University of Economics as I write a dissertation on the need for a holistic view of the human person in business (hint: humans—and that includes our children—are not mere “resources”). And now, we are excited to move back to America and raise our family in the wonderful state of Wisconsin! St. Peter’s School of East Troy was originally founded in 1888 - one hundred years before I was born! Yours is an impressive history and I am honored to play a role in the school’s revitalization. You must be patient with me and my ideas, but I firmly believe that if we draw upon the deep sources of our parish and school - and thereby upon the magnificent legacy of Catholic education across the centuries - St Peter’s will be flourishing sooner than you can teach an east-coaster how to pronounce “Mukwonago!” Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or would like to meet with me. Thank you for your prayers and commitment, Joseph MacDonald, Principal beginning July 1st, 2024 |
